We will soon provide information on rail passes and ticket options for international visitors travelling in Switzerland, that may be of particular interest to participants planning to explore Switzerland before or after the conference.
By Air
Bern is conveniently connected by rail to Switzerland’s three major international airports. All airports are well integrated into Switzerland’s public transport network, with frequent rail services throughout the day. Note that while there is a small airport in Bern, using a connecting flight within Switzerland is not recommended as it is less convenient, and connecting by train is the more environmentally sustainable choice.
Zurich Airport (ZRH): direct trains to Bern, journey time approximately 1 hour 15 minutes
EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg (BSL): approximately 1 hour 30 minutes to Bern by airport shuttle bus and train
Geneva Airport (GVA): direct trains to Bern, journey time approximately 2 hours 15 minutes
Bern Airport (BRN) also offers a limited number of seasonal direct flights from/to selected European leisure destinations. Please check the current flight schedule if travelling from one of these locations. Using a connecting flight within Switzerland to BRN is not recommended as the railway system offers the more convenient and sustainable option.
